Are there any black or death metal bands without the screaming vocals? I really like them music of bands like Fear Factory and Dimmu Borgir but I just can't stand the vocals. Does anyone know of any black or death metal bands without the screaming vocal style?

Thanks.

Hmm...

Cradle of Filth. He doesn't really scream. His voice is so finished that is sounds evens worse than screaming. It's really great :D Check out "Hallowed be thy name" and "Ghost in the Fog."

In Flames. He sings, but screams sometimes. "Only for the Weak," "Bullet Ride," and "Coerced Coexistence" are great songs. [edit] "Free Fall" is one of my favourites.

Ill Nino (What Comes Around), Dark Tranquility, InMe, Mudvayne (Dig is my favourite), Racer-X (Technical Difficulties)

I don't even know if those are black or death bands. There so many metal genres now :( But it's all good stuff, check it out. Screaming really depends on the singer, and also on the music. Sometimes it just overboard, but sometimes it just fits in at the right places (In Flames).

Back in high school I used to listen to Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Brutal Truth... but they're all about screaming.

Screaming is what makes black metal. if you like the style try to find power metal bands you might like. look at stuff like symphony x, Opeth, Sinergy. You'd probably enjoy Nevermore and Dream Theater too.

And yeah, Dani Filth's voice is so polished and refined it's not simple screaming anymore. check out songs from Damnation and a Day and Midian if you want a good overview.

Yeah, if you really don't like the screaming, check out some symphonic or power metal. Rhapsody (and Luca Turilli's solo projects), Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Stratovarius.

Nightwish is great cause a girl sings. And she's REALLY good.

Dude, check out At The Gates. It's got screaming, but it's the best metal ever, as far as I'm concerned.
I have a signature.

You'll learn to appreciate the screaming/growling/rasping/screeching over time, like I did ;)

Mortician.

not so much screaming, just like the grunts of satan instead.

If you lik Nightwish, check out some of Within temptation, Lacuna Coil, Therion, After Forever, Epica, Trail of tears, Flowing Tearsand maybe Sirenia (sort of like grunting, byut way more refined and combined with female vocals).

Basically, gothic metal, symphonic metal and opera metal.

Isn't Blue Oyster Cult considered metal?

I'm pretty sure Black Sabbath didn't do much screaming either.

ditto. It's not really screaminging for most of it. Like growling and grunting and screaming all mixed together. I think bark might be a good word. then it hits the chorus and he screams like mad "only the dead are smiling. ahhhh!"
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.
