U2's new single on iTunes...

It's really... weird. It definitely sounds like an early punk band with Bono on vocals. So they're definitely going back to their roots. It's kind of Clash/Pistols/Ramones. Definitely worth checking out. Their new album sounds like it's going to be really different that their 2000 release and more like Boy. Which is definitely the way to go.

Pitchfork actually gave the song a good review.

You'll have to copy and paste because I'm not linking to it, because they have advertisements for a porn site on there now (they don't show anything, but I still think they're distasteful).

I'm going to download it for myself. I think it's a really good direction for them to go in, because they'll be closer to TJT type stuff going this way than with AYCLB.
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

Yeah, those ads are really annoying. I may just e-mail the site about it.

I noticed that too!
That song is just so wonderfully silly. I can totally see a Pixies influence. It would have been great if Bono went into a little falsetto one time when he sang the "feeeel" part though.

I can't listen to it too much though. I listened to one other song after first hearing it yesterday, and then listened again, and I didn't like it too much. I guess more than once in a row or in close proximity doesn't work.

Nothing beats "In the Name of Love". Nothing.

Pride is fantastic. The rest of the album it's on kind of sucks though.

Um.... Unforgettable Fire isnt that great but... it's really experimental and weird. It's a fine non-U2 album, but as a U2 album, it doesnt fit. It did set the stage for Joshua Tree though.

Yep. I just found it kind of boring.

My favorite U2 album might be Achtung Baby!, it's quite cool. I have a friend whose favorite is Zooropa. I only have four of their albums though:
War- I quite like it (Another one where the first three songs rule, and I also like The Refugee and Two Hearts Beat As One)

The Unforgettable Fire

The Joshua Tree- It's great, though I have to be in the right mood nowadays otherwise it's boring

Achtung Baby!- A brilliant way to follow up TJT. I'm pretty sure I like every song on here.

All That You Can't Leave Behind- I hated it at first, but now I don't mind it so much. My favorite songs are Kite, Walk On, In A Little While (It's pretty cool how he wore his voice out before singing it), and Grace

Here's my favorite U2 albums in order:

Boy
October
Achtung Baby
War
The Joshua Tree
Pop
All That You Cant Leave Behind
Zooropa
Unforgettable Fire

If Rattle and Hum counts it goes between TJT and Pop.
If Under a Blood Red Sky counts it goes between TJT and R&H.

If the new single is any indication of the entire new album it'd go under Boy.

I should probably check out Boy.

I listened to TJT yesterday. I liked it a lot.
I'm not sure if I like the production though. I think the songs after the first three should be more organic. They're too floaty.
