Just got done jamming in the basement, and I just have to testify that music is plain awesome.

We had a long day practicing, having got the vocals done for our single. After our bassist left, it was just me and my friend. My brother had invited one of his friends over, and it also turned out he brought his cello with him. We decided to go downstairs and jam with my bro's friend on cello, my bro on contrabass (string bass), my friend on guitar, and me on drums. We started playing, and the music that came out was breathtaking! My friend set his amp to an awesome space rock guitar sound, and the string players busted out some beautiful tunes. We decided to bring in a microphone and let my recorder sit there and record us for the whole time. For 15 minutes straight, we created beautiful, sweeping music, and it was awesome. Here's a minute sample of what we did. Check it out.

Clickey.

This better be cool. I turned off David Bowie for it.

....it's ok. Kinda cool and sounds like one of my favorite bands when they were first starting out... give you a hint they have a cello and a damn fine vocalist and their name starts the Jump.

Ha, Jump Little Children. I have the song Say Goodnight... it's good stuff.

You should check out the band Sleeping At Last. They have great vocals like Jump and cool piano like Coldplay. Listen to the song Ghosts, and tell me what you think.

Make it more metally, an it'd resemble Apocalyptica a bit.

It's really cool!
It would be really good as it is in the middle of another song, like a bridge.
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

Everyone's opinion here is worthless. That was ****ing amazing.

Postscriptum. Holy ****ing ****! This is really, really good!! I wish I had a cello and contrabass player. ****ing hell! WOW! And BTW, your drumming is awesome in this piece (no, it isn't "technically" mindblowing, but it is appropriate). Really beautiful. I love you. Everyone who has posted **** on this forum does not even come near this quality. I mean every word I say. I love this. Do you have the whole file?? E-mail me please if you can: ronald_mcdonald_9@yahoo.com Yahoo! Mail probably won't allow such a big file (which I assume it will be), but contact me and maybe we can work out a way for you to send it.

I liked it, but it seemed a bit out of tune (which is easy to do with unfretted instruments, especially without proper monitoring). Still, awesome.
Catloaf, meet mouseloaf.

Of course it's out of tune, they're not prefessionals or in a studio.

You recorded all this with just a mic? Sounds damn good.

I'm glad you guys like it so much. :) It was really cool just making music, all of us feeding off of each other's energy. It started slow in the beginning and by the end, the cymbals were exploding and the guitar was going crazy. I'll probably post the whole thing later... we can do so much better because I think the cello was off-tune a little bit, and we only used one mic. Also, we didn't have a structure for the song... we just went with it, so we messed up a lot. We're definitely going to do a high-fi recording sooner or later, and I'll get my friends on violin and viola to join us.

Master Tonberry, if you like this, check out the band The Burning Paris. They are freakin' incredible, and they sound like the music we played.

Its a neat rough draft.

It will be something awesome, but right now I don't reall find it nearly as breathtaking as Tonberry does.

Sounds interesting. It has some nice sound, but it has no direction at all. For "jam session," pretty nice. The feeding off each other's energy, improvising. That's jazz. Needs direction. Check out the Michael Brecker Quindectet on Amazon or something. They have some of the same instrumentation, along with just being darned awesome.

Good stuff. There's a lot of potential for something greater there
