Now when I said I didn't like Emo, what I meant was, I don't like most of the new Emo that is overflowing the mainstream these days. Classic Emo, back in the day, back when it was new is fine. Some new songs are fine. Whatever. Just, there is a point, when, too much is too damn much. Anyways, I dunno. This Jimmy Eat World band. I remember when "The Middle" came out and "Sweetness". I listened to both of the songs. Now they've released their new album Futures and the first single "Pain". And I listen, and I'm like, wow, this is pretty damn good. Pretty damn good. I like the part where the guy sings "and she's not breathing back", I really like that. I don't really care for the rest of the lyrics, just that part is really awesome. Anyways, what I'm saying is, to anyone who likes this band, I'm just a little curious if someone can help me out, because I might simply be insane.
Well, I love R.E.M. They are one of the bands that I can say I love. And they have this song called "Leave" which I love also. What I want to ask is...isn't "Pain" by Jimmy Eat World very, very similar to "Leave" by R.E.M.? Not necessarily the lyrics, but listen to how the guy is singing, the melody he is singing.
EDIT: I'd just also like to add that "Pain" is a much faster song than "Leave". If you listen to "Leave" first, it's much easier to recognize the similarity.
