I've always avoided listening to Rufus Wainwright because several of my friends got into him and became completely obsessed. So, today as I was browsing through iTunes, I listened to a teaser clip of Rufus just so I could be content in the fact that I already knew I hated him. Problem is, I liked it. I liked it a lot. I was drawn in by his strange hypnotic melodies and gentle voice, and the deal was sealed when his song Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk reminded me of a strange homoerotic pairing of the Beatles and Oasis.
So, Rufus Wainwright's Poses was the first complete album I've purchased on iTunes and I've only been listening to it for about 10 minutes but it is the most captivating album I've ever heard. Maybe it's because everything about it is just beautiful and awesome, or maybe it's because it appeals to my latent homosexuality. Either way, it's great.
So here's my Ode to Rufus in haiku form:
Rufus is with us
floating through like whiskers
and i am happy
