I'm looking at amps again, because I finally have enough money/wholesaler contacts to actually get one of the ones I want (I can get almost all of the amps below for 40-60% off). So here's the rundown:

Currently have: VOXAD120VT, 2x60w digital but w/ tubes in preamp. I might just pick up a VOXAD212 speaker cabinet for around $300, but I'd rather get a new amp.

what i want:

Orange AD30HTC. Basically a 2 channel 30w head. All tube. $1299

Orange AD140HTC. Basically a 2 channel 140w/200w head. All tube. $1779

Orange RK100HTC. A 1 channel 100w head with reverb and onboard effects. Dont really like onboard effects. $1939

Orange Cabs: either 4x12 ($939) or 2x12 ($579)

VOX AC30 w/ VOX Blue $2,19

these are the only amps I'm looking at. If you can make another suggestion that retains the basic profile of sound I'm going for (if you dont know what that is, I'd rather not hear your advice on another amp type).

Have you plugged into and tried all of these amps? If so which one gives you YOUR sound?

The 30W Orange looks like something I would look at. 140/200W is probably too much, you might have trouble getting a crunchy sound at lower volumes.

Any of these amps give me the sound I'm looking for, so basically I'm asking you guys because I cant decide.

The 140/200 has a master volume and then a preamp volume so you can get the crunch at lower volumes.

If you're gigging, go for the higher wattage. The only downside to a higher wattage amp is it's hard to get that nice warm poweramp distortion at low volumes.

It'd be for gigs only.

I'd probably use the amp I have now for the smaller venues... and by that I mean practice.

If money isn't an issue, then, go for the AD120HTC. If you really need effects, either get a bunch of pedals or get a good multieffects unit, like the T.C. Electronics G-Major, or one of Lexicon's effects units.

Only effects I use are Overdrive, Tremelo, Delay. And I have pedals for all of those. I'm actually getting that sweet *** Line6 Delay box, the minty green one. It's sex.

Oh, I'm also thinking about getting the Brian May Recording Amp through VOX. I saw it on eBay for $100 when most places sell it for $150..........................................

I wish I made more money than I do, but the good news is if I dont spend a lot I can have enough to pay for everything I want in about a month. And that's working part-time.
