Dormlife has left me without the room for a guitar amp. I can get away without using an amp for a while, but that gets boring. So I use someones acoustic guitar, but I still neeeeed the sound of an electric.

Do any of you know of any software taht I can use to amplify my guitar through my computer? I know of Native Insturments Guitar rig, but that is $500....

I know of plenty of DirectX/VST ampsims, but they all cost money.

Amplitube, Ozone Trash, Alien Connections' Revalver. They're all great sounding plugins. Amplitube is my favourite though.

I did have a free stand-alone program at one point, but it sounded like crap.

The problem will also be with your sound input. Are you using DI box? Do you have a decent comp and sound card that will let you render in realtime at low latency?
