Hey, I'm thinking of building my own guitar, I've got some pretty crappy instructions, anyone got good ones for building a solid body electric? Any woods or metals you recommend for the body and fret board?

Godin has the best neck on the market. get a rock maple neck from them for around 400-ish.

I was thiniking of putting it together from scratch rather than just other parts, ie. Creating my own neck from high quatily ebony with power tools

Ebony just seems to be the strongest dark wood i can think of apart from mahogany but thats expensive as hell

I don't recall ever seeing a mahogany neck. It's used for fretboards, though. Rock maple is a good choice as far as neck woods go. Mahogany works too.
