Hey, since my birthday and X-mas is coming up, I'm just wondering what some of you guys think about different effect pedals for guitars?

Do you have any recommendations on single effects, or multieffect units?

I play mainly metal, so a decent 'wah' sound and some good lead and rhythm sounds are a plus! Just wondering what you guys would recommend!

Vox V848 for a wah... since you aren't telling us what you want exactly...

for a good multieffects unit.... Vox Tonelab SE

Look at the Boss Me-50. or if you want a bigger unit, the Boss GT-6. this one has really good wah capabilities.

I've heard the digitech GNX4 is also pretty kickass.ΒΈ

I owned both a Me-50 and a Gt-6. my only gripe about the me-50 is the lack of a good speaker simulation for recording, and there's a delay when you change memory presets, so it's not meant for playing live.

BOSS Chromatic Tuner, this one is a must if you plan on taking anything you do seriously.

BOSS Super Overdrive, I was split between this and distortion, but distortion is ugly and just all crunch. This one is what it is, overdrive but your tones are perfectly captured, not drowned out by the effect. Couple this with a Blues pedal and you're all set.

BOSS Tremelo, I just like this one, it's fun to sound all Ennio Morricone from time to time.

Line 6 Delay.... dont know the name, it's mint green and has looping capabilities. It's about $250 and is F'n A.

That's all the effects I use, those are all the effects you should use as well.

Hell yes!

But that's extremely pricey, last I checked. I'd recommend the ToneWorks AX1500G. Quite nice sounding, for a multieffects processor (probably not as good as the Vox Tonelab SE). I'm happy with it. Except I lost some of my stereo effects when I switched (like my stereo phaser). :(

But anyway... it's quite a bit cheaper than the Vox Tonelab SE. I bought mine on ebay for around $135. Well worth it. (You can get it at musiciansfriend.com new for something like $200.)

Depends hugely on your amp and its EQ & cab.
