was really just doing a recording test, so this is no way a concious drum solo, more or less just goofing off trying to get levels right, whatcha think?

Not bad. Your bass drum sounds either too muffled or out of tune, I can't put my finger on it. Your toms also die out pretty quick, you might have them tuned a little too high, or the skins are too thick.

well im recording with only 3 mics: bass, snare/hat, ride/overhead... Theres a pillow inside the bass drum and a single duct tape strip on the top and bottom heads of each tom...I usually wouldnt be caught dead with this much muffling, but the location forces me too, overtones drown out everything due to the echo. The bass is being recorded through a vocal mic, which will kind of account for the odd sound, im hoping to pick up some kind of bass mic soon.

You can hear a lot of different tones when drums are recorded without other instruments, stuff you would never notice when the whole band is playing. Not sure if that's the case here, though. I'm using bad headphones at the moment.
