Sorry for the supid title, but i needed your undivided attention

Ive been stepping up on my music making these days.

My friends have show much interest, and I have a few aquaintences in the music industry, one of whom is helping me get my best stuff onto radio, whilst Fergie my mate is voicing caution legal wise.

I have 2 albums worth of music

My 2nd album is much greater, but heres one of the better songs from the 1st album.

Angelus Ruthven - Narcotic for a Broken Heart

Wrote it when i broke up with some girl, as usual.

Uses piano, strings, synth base and beat.

i like it, drum n bass is buzzing... although it could probablys do with something a little more euphoric on the ears... find some chick to do some sort of high pitched drawn out moany vocals or something, it sounds cool.

<3 it!

Now a few suggestions:

The begining is very ambient, but only strings and piano feels rather empty. It might be nice to have somesort of ambient sound... waves crashing, wind blowing, birds, or even abstract swells and statics. You know, just something to fill the background until your percussions come in.

Also, I want to know -all- the vsts you used in this :p

One of the few songs I've heard on here that actually has decent EQing. AWESOME job on that. The only thing I'd recommend is some variation on the drums. It's a rhythm driven song, and that slowly becomes boring as the song progresses. The rest of it is gold, though. Very nice job.

I like it, but I don't like the string effect. It sounds very fake, mostly due to the slow vibrato effect. A real string section would have vibratoes not happening at the same time. FruityLoops has better string effects than that one, and I'd recommend using them.

The idea behind the dynamic he was trying to achieve was to leave it open and empty. The more you add into the beginning, the less room there is for a dynamic entry for the other instruments. Although on second though, some ambient sounds like the ones you suggested shouldn't take away from that. Though I don't guarantee it wouldn't.

It shouldn't, as long as they're not in the foreground. It's called filler noise. Every damn electronic track has it. :p
