When you're alone and you pick up a guitar and sing, just to practice, what songs do you play? (covers only!)

For me, its currently:

Bruce Springsteen - Growin' Up
Pearl Jam - I Am Mine
Neil Young - Rockin' in the Free World

And you?

When playing guitar and singing:
- "Depuis" by Dany Bédar
- "Terre promise" by Éric Lapointe. This one really gets my vocal cords feeling nice and loose.

errrhg. too many. to get nicely started though I usually get some iced earth to warm up the picking hand, then some Racer X to continue warming up my right hand. when I'm feeling the peak of my practice goes I take a batch of Bodom songs and rip it. and when things start going down (i've usually been playing for an hour or 2 by then :p ) I just work on parts of songs i've been learning these days.

no really strict "set".. I just play songs i know in a random order.
"NAILFACE" - spe

Usually, I just play random chord progressions or whatever, or if I have a song in my head, I just diddle with it until I've got something close. Or I play lead(s) to some random song. I don't really have anything specific.

If I'm recording, I can easily spend an entire day playing. By the end of such a day, my hands may be about to blister and cramping and/or joint stiffness is common. I just gotta get that whole relax-while-you-play thing down. It does work.

When I'm playing drums, I warm up with these songs in order.

Warmup Routine (rudiments, polyrhythms, and fills)
Mudvayne - Dig (usually only play half cuz it's boring)
Slipknot - Sic
Tool - The Grudge

Then I'll play whatever it is I"m working on.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Playing it with a full band is fun, though, but just the drum part is boring. I love the song, or I wouldn't play it, though ;)

Megadeth - Motopsycho (This is a great double bass warm up)

Metallica - One (Another, more advanced double bass warm up)

Iron Maiden - Wasted Years (The opening hi-hats get the hands moving well)

These are just a few of the ones that I warm up with. There are many others, but I don't wanna list them.
