I have that thing bookmarked, it's one of the funniest thing's I've ever read.

"I shall call him...Mini-Moog!"

Great samples, too.

We also talked about it a little in the music links thread. The general consensus was that it was interesting, but it got a lot of the genres wrong.

A general rule of thumb when discussing genres and subgenres of anything is that no matter what you think, there's going to be alot of people who disagree. Noone can really put down a set categorization of music, because it's too emotional and dynamic to really pin down. But usually there's a common-ground of agreement between people who know there stuff.

But I agree, in that I disagree with alot of his classification.

Actually, the general consensus was that they were all wrong.

Not only are more than half the genres there made up, but so are their placements and pretty much everything else. Instead of giving descriptions, he gives his opinions on each genre.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Yeah, and it lacks Soundsweeping and Notedropping genres.

Not to mention Beardramming.

That's true. Joy Division at least used electronics to a good effect in their later stuff. It does mention New Order, which is Joy Division reincarnated, sans Ian Curtis.
