<&Vinny> Guys, I need songs for the senior slideshow
<&Vinny> Songs about commencement, moving on, you know
<&Vinny> Do not suggest Good Riddance or Here's to the Night.
<&Vinny> It also needs to be more poignant and mellow
<&Vinny> So no Schools Out.
<&Vinny> (Even though that would fit since Alice Cooper graduated from my high school)

I think "We Are Tomorrow" by Bleach would work really well. It might be a little too rockin' but it's nothing extreme. Give it a listen.

I almost cried when they played good riddance at my senior slide show, all of my best friends were moving away...bittersweet day

WOW ok that still depresses me, so put something happy for sure cuz it's a pretty intense event
White Stripes - We're going to be friends
Incubus - I Wish You Were here was the last song played at ours and for some reason it fit really well
Modest Mouse - Float On
Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger ********
Weezer - Only In Dreams
Weezer - Island in the Sun
The Postal Service - The District Sleeps Alone Tonight
The Postal Service - Brand New Colony
The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
Bush - Warm Machine

I starred oasis because it's the most fitting, non-overplayed song for the occasion ;)
</sarcasm>
<Anovis> mmmm I wanna lick your wet, Mentis.

The Beatles - In My Life

There are places I’ll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

A good suggestion, Chaz. Please do NOT use that Greenday song. You know, the Seinfeld one. EVERYONE uses it.

Melvins & Mike Patton - G.I. Joe

oh and...

Dillinger Escape Plan + Mike Patton - Pig Latin

the chant of Freedom in that song is nicely fitting.

I second that suggestion.

Something completely unrelated so no one will cry.

I have no clue why, it may just be the restrained punk in me,
but for some reason, I think you should play The Clash's

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll see if I can sway the minds of the fascist student council.

I love the song, but I'm not sure the drug references and the word "d***heads" make it totally school-friendly.

The Iron and Wine one would be a bit to slow for a graduation I think...Let Go by Frou Frou is good

The ataris have a song that would fit great (or however you would say that) I don't remember the name but the chorus is like "Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up, these are the best days of our lives. The only thing that matters is to follow your heart, and eventually you'll finally get it right" It was smashing and isn't a sad song.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

You guys are all missing the best one...

REM- It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

I nominated it for when I graduated. Unfortunately, some Garth Brooks song won.
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

In This Diary. It's the song that we used at my graduation.
