do me a huge ASCII favour and teach me some popular chords, i can never remember a single thing i play when i'm pissing around, its annoying.

I just use this whenever there's a chord that I don't know or that I can't remember.

You should start with the major and minor versions of all the chords (A through G).

another note - i'm using the site that dry gear posted and it shows the first 15 frets...

what about the last 9?

Well you don't usually use anything that high up in a chord, and they're the same notes as frets 4 - 13 anyway.
