What songs or bands do you like that isn't what you'd normally like but you do anyway?

Mine is Get Right (and the remix to a lesser extent) by Jennifer Lopez. I've never listened to her before but I just really enjoy those two songs.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

Though I totally despise country, I must make an exception the song Devil Went Down to Georgia by the Charlie Daniels band... :D

I remember way back I liked some of Britney's Spears songs - before her whole "I'm a Slave for you" album. I think that was her 3rd album.

Yeah, I liked her debut and the other one with Oops I did it again. :(

And I'm a metalhead...so random but I was young and naive...

Boulevard of Broken Dreams, perhaps the only song I've ever liked by Green Day.
"Well ain't that a merry jelly." - FastGamerr

My guilty pleasure is definitely Matchbox 20. I really liked them before my musical taste matured but that was 6 years ago and since then I've kept on liking them.

Recently, Delta Goodrem. Doubt you've even heard of her unless you're Australian. That's a good thing.. ;)

Hm, there are probably something remarkable... but now only some Green Charlotte (or whatever that crappy band is) song sounds pretty nice... though at the same time really annoying... hm.

Nothing to be ashamed of.

She's one of the FEW female singers out there in the pop world that actually has an amazing voice.

I've been getting REALLY into the Jayhawks. They're pretty much the first Alternative Country band. They rock.

Franz Ferdinand are hugely popular amongst the indie crowd, i'm not a fan but I don't see any reason to be embaressed about liking one of their songs

Everyone's heard of Delta Goodrem, she is afterall the singer chosen to advertise your entire COUNTRY. She was also in Neighbours, she's also had a very popular album in Britland and I assume some Top 10 singles.

Anything by Lost Prophets or Depeche Mode.

Wait... why are Lost Prophets and Depeche Mode forbidden fruit?

They're both widely regarded as being good music.

Yeah, it pretty much sounds like the original, Les Claypool and Charlie Daniels sound strangely similar. The only thing really different is the bass, the violin has an underwater sound in the Primus version, and Larry's heavy riff during the Devils part. Still kick *** though, both. <3 Primus

Why are you mentioning the Jayhawks here? They're awesome!
I was going to say you were wrong about them being the first alt-country band because I thought Uncle Tupelo was. But according to AMG, the Jayhawks have been around since 85, two years before Uncle Tupelo. I had no idea they've been around that long!

Oh, on AMG's listing for The Jayhawks, under influences, Big Star is listed!!!
I can totally see the connection. Big Star were alternative, and they got a bit country on a few songs. You should listen to their song The Ballad of El Goodo.

And of course, REM is listed under the influences too. They were quite countryish on their early albums and were around before the Jayhawks.
I guess I'd still go along that the Jayhawks were the first alt-country band, just because they have a more traditional country sound than REM did.

Bjork. She should be crappy, but I love the melodies and bass that the songs give so much...damnit.
