Instrumental Demo........
2005-03-13, 9:24 PM #1
Last night my friend and I got bored after watching the Brak Show and decided to record something. So we recorded a song I've been working on, off and on, for a while. I really only had the chord progression and the lyrics, I'm still working on a bridge/chorus, but this is just a really rough demo for me to get some ideas down. Almost all the "instruments" other than the guitar, the water sound, and the cars driving by, were done with a Yamaha Motif 6 and the arrangements were all done on the spot. I'm proud of myself.

It's only instrumental, but I'll post the lyrics again so you can kind of feel the song a bit. It went from sounding like Coldplay to a more cabaret feel with the arrangements I did, so that's a plus. It's hard writing a ballad without it sounding kind of cheesy and I think I've given it a unique sound....

Here's a full clip of the song:

And here's just a little teaser of the first 1 minute for you guys that dont really care...

This was the song I wrote about my friend getting killed.

looking back we were too young to realize our fragility
we pushed past all the signs in ignorant rigidity
and now lie in pieces

I cant tell who's more blind, this system or this city
they shuffle past with long-dead flowers to gape at our serenity
and i wish we could just pull down the shades

*little instrumental break*

please raise me up again, make me just like Lazarus
we never saw eye to eye, but I wish a kiss could commend us
-to break this cycle of fear and loathing
cause i'm not a wolf in sheep's clothing
i'm just a little bit misunderstood.

I like the strings (cello?). The melody sounds kind of like all that sombre Russian music of the Soviet era.

I enjoyed it alot. Can't wait to hear vocals added later.
The tired anthem of a loser and a hypocrite.

The guitar got a bit too loud at one point, but other than that, I enjoyed it. Great stuff. :D

Ya, it hurts my ears when I listen to it with headphones but my bassist, who mixed it, is a ****er and doesnt understand that people dont like it when their ears bleed.
