This is only a fraction of the main song.

It uses string melodies, but builds upon them to make a uplifting chorus.

your thoughts?

Would you dance to this in a club?

The chord progression is awesome
first buildup at about 29 seconds is good, drop is perfect
the snare-rush is well timed as well, and at that point in the song the chord progression is really making me bounce.

good from what I heard, but that clip was about the exact length that it could hold my attention so hopefully the full version has more variation.

ALSO it's the first track I've heard here in a while that had decent EQing, nice one!

eh... as far as dance/trance music goes.. Not bad. I now have a couple of things by you, and they're pretty cool, but short. :p
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

I wouldn't be so sure. From the begining it felt like your drive and kickdrum were fighting over the same space constantly.

Indeed. Nice melody, though.

i agree with flexies statement i'm not 100% happy with it.

In fruityloops there is a sound compressor, so your speakers basically dont blow up with thouseands of instruments at once. The compressor then limits what can be heard and makes it more equal. In theory.

Unfortunately, it seems to just cut off the real sound of the song, and theres nothing i can do about it.

hopefully flex can help? pm if u know how.

If the compressor is squishing the life out of your stuff, try using a longer attack, like ~30ms or so. Maybe even a little bit more.

Also, fruities compressor is complete ****. I don't know of any free, good ones though. If you've got the cash, the psp vintage warmer or the waves compressor plugin (or plugin pack) are the best you can really get as far as digital goes.

You can also set up the attack to be triggered by the attack of your sample, or kick in at a certain point in the sample.

I gave it a relisten and flex is right about your kick. Try a notch filter at about 200-250hz on your drive. Then run a low-pass filter over your kick, compress, and BAM turn that ***** up a notch....

yeh ok i'll try that
I'll let you know the outcome tomorrow

this was the parameters of the compressor...
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

you want me to add what to my Beef stew? Onions?

Theres a free filter with a notch option, frequency, "Q" and Gain.

I can add a personal compressor to my kick that turns on in the chorus.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{

use the parametric EQ, it's easy cuz it's visual.
Notch filter means there should be a notch "cut-out" of the frequency, meaning you've reduced/killed the frequencies in the "notch". Add one to your main part so that it doesn't compete with your kick, which should be about 150-250hz or in that general area. This will reduce phase-cancellation and make your kick punch more.

low-pass is straight-forward, set it on your kick to let all freqs under 250 or 300 through, killing the rest.

oh now i getcha thats easy

just looked at the beat mixer setting.

I had 3 seperate bass boosters on it...

hence it was competing with the song :p
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

PSP Vintage Warmer is like a drug. I prefer BBE Sonic Maximizer for my guitar stuff, but PSP is great for overall mastering. It just magically makes everything come together nicely.

And +1 for the Waves plugin pack. It's incredibly and insanely awesome.

Well there's your problem. Half the time I get something like that, it's the bass causing it.
