Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution

BEST FREAKIN BAND EVER.

Its a simple concept: Get together a bunch of really good musicians and have them make kick *** music without the aid of things like amplifiers.

The thing thats hard to explain is how they sound... because its a very unique sound.

Anyway- The EP is available for download here: (legally)

Intro- This is a call to Arms

It's alright, but the blaring horns just annoy me.

Dear Sergio has the F word, at least I think.

I love BOTAR. Even though the acoustic thing seems kinda gimicky to me, the songwriting is still top notch. The Provide The Paint... is one of my favorite songs by Thomas Kalnoky. I hope BOTAR keeps on releasing stuff, but it seems Streetlight Manifesto takes up a lot of their time.

Has anyone heard anything about a new SM album?

The concept is very interesting, downloading some of it now.

I love the fact that they are acoustic. Its so original compared to most of the music being produced today. apparently BOTAR has a full length coming "soon."
Streetlight has been teasing part of an unreleased BOTAR song called "One Mississipi" over in england.

"One Mississipi, two Mississipi, three Mississipi, four.
Run like the wind
or I'll have your skin
and you wont be running any more."

as for the new SM album- Victory records website says 1/20/2006, but Mr. Kalnoky says sooner. I dunno, theyve got some more recording and mixing to do once they finish touring this year.

I don't like it. Its just ska on an accoustic guitar, and i'm not really a fan of ska.

You do know that it isn't just an acoustic guitar. It's acoustic everything, meaning no electronics used (Other than the er... recording... equipment...)

Trumpets and stuff.

Personally I liked it because they did move away from ska. Yes it has some influences, but if you listen other genres influence the music heavliy. I think the only song that has generic ska chords in it is Dear Sergio.

Huh. Reading into the lyrics for these songs, and they are pretty deep. Here's to Life has a neat meaning.
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

"Oh."

There are some very heavy Spanish influences, especially in the slower, more classical spots. The major problem I have with it, though, is that not all the instruments can be heard.
