God Damnit Schming you and your band are talented, you will go far. Is that your voice?

I'd be suprised if The Futurists arent on the radios some time very soon

I'm not really into that type of music, but it's great for what it is.

Wow. Awesome work. Can't wait to hear more.
2005-05-10, 12:14 PM #7
Wow. Thanks guys......

The drums, rhythm guitar, and bass were all recorded live and the lead guitar/layered rhythm guitars and vox were tracked on top. Saved us time and money in the studio. I wish we had time to go back and add organ/piano/violin but we were strapped for cash.

Thanks for the compliments. Are the vocals mixed high enough? Like can you understand the words?

and yes, I play rhythm guitar and sing.

The lyrics are clear for me.

That's *really* good sounding. Great work.

If The Futurists made a CD, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Superb.

I didn't really like the composition, but that's purely a matter of taste. The singing was perfect and everything else sounded professional-quality. Definately better than some of what goes on Much Music and the likes.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

That was fairly awesome. The vocals and some of the guitar reminded me a bit of Maroon 5, except not so boring. The recording itself sounds very professional.

Hehe, we recorded it in my friend's basement. He has a pretty nice rig and a good ear.

Ya, he's our friend, but he does this for a living. He's got a good setup and it's not expensive compared to what regular studio time would cost us.

I think my use of the word basement threw you.... dont think of it as a basement, but rather a subterranean studio in the typical sense.

Hm, I checked out your myspace, and I love the songs on there too. You gotta record some more songs so I can buy a cd!

Its awesome!! But it could be better. Here are some observations I made...

The main guitar chord sequence which repeats itself is somewhat hard to follow. I can hear it but I have been a musician for 12 years. You want it to be something the audience can grab on to to so speak, eg. Smells Like Teen Spirit, American Idiot, In Bloom, etc. Something really catchy would make it a number one hit, because it starts out so strong. Also, during the verse, I think your vocals peak too often. Maybe stress only the last word before the chorus and/or half time before that... This is a very well structured song that really bites on. This is just some criteria I thought I would pass along to help make it a char topper, which you could very well do. Just my opionion, if you think its BS than simply disregard it, I just thought I would give U my thoughts...

Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks guys... I have 3 more songs that we recorded this week, but I'm thinking I'm gonna hold on to them for a while so that you dont get burned out on my stuff.

I dont see myself getting famous off this stuff, just having fun.

I lied... The Futurists - Film Noir

Thanks, just keep in mind this is a demo, it's not the finished product by any means. It's something we're going to use to pitch to venues and some labels and if we get a little bit farther, go back in and re-record it all exactly how I want it. (I'm thinking piano/violins on this song..... kind of like how some of my other songs have the organ/violins).

This is mainly just a representation of what we sound like live. So, just imagine yourself at a Futurist concert.

Both songs are excellent. Completely rockin'. I'd definitely pay to see you guys in concert.

I'm jealous of your talent because I suck. :(

i think thats great, and although i dont really wanna start a debate about artistic integrity vs $$$$ as zoso seemed to be outlining, your vocals are pretty sweet.

One thing i would say is that you could vary your voice a bit, you use the same singing voice throughout, it gets a bit samey after the first verse (although you can usually ignore me, most people can listen to albums of material with the singer using the same vocal style without feeling it is repetitive).

All in all, I think its a quality tune, but i'm not gonna jump on it with rabid passion like everyone else, although I do believe you will go very far with your chosen style.

As I listen more, all I can say that to make it better to my ears is to add more variety to the guitar, but you should usually ignore me, because I mostly listen to bands that pack about 40 styles of music into one song.

Great Stuff.

Good stuff right there. Even though I like heavier stuff, this is definitely something I could sit down, listen to and groove.

Haha, ya, this is "heavy" for us. We're slowly evolving from a "mellow" band into one that you can rock out to.

Although it's not my kind of music, it sounds really good, recording's really clear. Good job.

Technically speaking, it came under copyright protection the moment I finished composing it.

Yea, I don't usually enjoy this stuff but this is SUPERB. You're singing is top notch, best I have ever heard by you. I wont be surprised if you guys hit it big, just hire me as a lead guitarist. :o

Also, the chords are hard to make out, maybe a little less distortion.

At 3:10, that was amazing singing.
