Hey, I'm back from my absence. I bought the ultra mega reissue of Jeff Buckley's Grace, and on the second disc it has a Big Star cover!
That is so awesome. Now all of you who have the album have indeed heard a Big Star song!
It's Kanga-Roo. The cover is so awesome. I like the way it follows the spirit of the original, but is different. The album that the original was taken from was full of weird instrumental touches, and they added a whole bunch in the cover.
I don't want to really compare it to the original, because I of course like the original better. The song is even better in the context of the album it was taken from. On the Big Star album, there's this really depressing song called Holocaust. It's a very dark and gloomy song.
Then, right after comes Kanga-Roo, which has a similar melody and slowness that Holocaust has, only it sounds hopeful in a way. It's really cool.
The Jeff Buckley version is a bit darker than the original. Also, the original didn't have the guitar solo.
