Hot Rod Deluxe

OK, I recently purchased a pickup for my acoustic guitar. I am using a Fender Hot-Rod deluxe for it. The only problem is, it sounds too electric when I plug it in, even when all the distortion is turned off. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to make it sound authentically acoustic?

What kind of pickup is it? Also, an acoustic amp is about the only way to get an acoustic tone without using a mic.

Piezos are going to sound like junk if you put them through an electric guitar amp.

Best way is to go from the pickup through a DI (direct inject) box (or a good mic preamp) and into a decent PA system, or you can start looking at acoustic amps, which could possibly be a lot cheaper.

its a Dean Markley with two pickups. Lets say I didnt have enough money at the moment for an acoustic amp but needed one, is there any tuning I can do with the knobs to make it sound as good as possible?
