How Do You Write Songs?

Post your method for writing songs.....

I have been writing songs for while, which usually form from a riff or cord progression. However, none of them seem to be any good. How does everyone else do it?

I think of most of my ideas when I am bored. Along with topics I think of catchy riffs and such, then i write. I can't force myself to write though, or else it comes out bad.
Think while it's still legal.

I write out general lyrics, figure out what kind of mood, message and overall feeling of the song I want to portray. Then I write the instrumental parts based on that overall feeling, to reflect the lyrics.

Otherwise, when I'm just improving riffs and chord progs and I come up with something, the lyrics just come from that, usually while I'm playing something will come up.

I usually write all the notes on stickynotes on the wall, and then throw darts at the wall, and record what order each note was hit in.

Then I repeat with note lengths.

Usually a catchy pattern just pops up in my head. I write it down, then listen to it over and over again, and then I expand on it.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Some songs I write on keyboard first, most I write on guitar first.

Some I just am fooling around in computer editing software and come up with something neat and it pops in my head what I should do.

Sometimes i just wake up with a melody in my head and write it down.

Whatever the scenario, I always write my riff/melodies/lyrics down as even if I'm not using now, I have gone back many times and used them later

Usually when I'm bored, or insipired. I've only wrote 4 songs (Guitar) but I'm happy with them.

i jam riffs then put a few together, then i add drums and bass and whatever else it needs.

then i'll get my lyrics from somewhere, usually the first thing that comes to mind, right now that would be the instructions on the back of a can of deodorant.

I don't usually put much effort into the lyrics, i'm not that bothered about them.

Words + chords at the same time. If I have a riff in mind, I just find what chords sound good with it. I don't know exactly. I have pretty good relative pitch, so maybe it's just easier to keep it trapped in my head. Problem is, I usually can't play what's in my head because it's beyond my skills. :(

And I like vibrant words. Little, dull words suck.
