Now can anyone please teach me how to read tabs? I'm no good at like... piano style notes.

Piano style notes are called sheet music.

I would give you a basic explanation of tab and answer any questions you have but I am sure Seb will stop by and do likewise in a better fashion.

Get a teacher, or get a guitar book.

Of course if you get a teacher, he'll most likely want to you read "piano style notes" as well.

Tabs are those simulated text "strings" with numbers on them.

Say hello to microtab, the basics here mean that you've gotta strum twice, denoted by the two stacks of numbers.

First you strum open on the top string, with the two strings below it at 2nd fret (as tabs go upside down to the way you hold a guitar), then after that you hold down the first fret for the three bottom strings.

Theres loads of other symbols that go in tabs but i dont know of a resource that lists them all.

Hope that helps a little.

True, but I always use tabs as a base for the song and then usually make my own changes to it.

Quite true. I'm probably one of few people that actually won't submit a tab unless I'm 100% sure it's right. Not just that I think I'm playing it right, but I usually spend several hours tabbing and reviewing and comparing. And I always make lots of notes.

But it takes too long, so I don't like to do it anyway. So what I just said is an excuse for this. :p

My tabs are always correct because I use Guitar Pro. It is like powertab mentioned below but you pay to use it (one time) and it is better.

The best tab site out though, though you have to download their (useful) software to use it.
