Well their new album came out today, what does everyone who got it think of it? I personally think its pretty damn good.

So far my favorite songs on the CD are:

Sacrificed Sons
The Answer Lies Within

Runners up:
Never Enough
I Walk Beside You
These Walls

Octavarium, while the title track and the longest track doesn't live up to the hype of it being the "new ACOS." However, that is not to say its a bad song, I find it to be very good and the flute solo is great, but it doesn't have a lot of the depth that ACOS had. However, this CD does make great addition to any DT fan's library.

So far my ranking of DT albums I've listened to are:

1) Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
1) Tie: A Change of Seasons - (Just the title track)
2) Scenes from a Memory
3) Octavarium
4) Awake
5) Images and Words
6) Train of Thought
7) Falling Into Infinity

It's good, but not that great. My song ratings:

I Walk Beside You
Never Enough
Panic Attack
The Answer Lies Within
These Walls
Root of All Evil
Octavarium
Sacrificed Sons.

I hate Sacrificed Sons... it was written by that wishy-washy LaBrie. And Octavarium... is there any point to that 4.5 minute rambling guitar solo at the beginning?

LaBrie's my favorite out of the band. :(

I'm surprised you put Images and Words so low. Most hold that as one of their best albums.

And with LaBrie, it seems to be a love-hate relationship. Either people really like him, or people hate him.

I think he fits with the band and like him.

Once I finish the album I'll give my thoughts on the entire thing.

I was judging it by how many songs I liked on each album. I only really like Pull Me Under and Metropolis Pt. 1 on I&W.
