After the show I asked Jim where Chris (bass player) was so I could get an autograph. (cause im cool like that) He also introduced me to his parents who were there. His father seemed really cool.
Then I was just kinda wandering when my friend goes "hey, Toms over there." I didnt believe him, then I saw the hat and I was like "holy crap!" He was in some dark corner by a portapotty signing autographs. When he signed mine I said I really was happy they played Better than you. He said "Yea, we havent played it in a while. It was a lot of fun" Then I asked him about one of the songs they teased. Said it was an older song, from his highschool band. Next I showed him my shirt. He was like "hey man thats really cool, howd you do it?" then I explained and stuff and thanked him for a great show.
Next came Dan Ross (who no longer plays with them). Complimented him on the show I had previously seen him in. Asked him to sign my Streetlight and BOTAR posters. Showed him my shirt and he goes "Haha where the hell did you find that?" Needless to say, he liked it as well.
*intermission*
I just kinda stood there for a minute and decided that I should talk to Tomas again before I left.
Went up to him again and asked how the next Bandits CD was coming along. He stated that things were going slow because of Streetlight and touring (which is understandable) He then went on to say that even though its going slow new stuff is being recorded and there will be a lot of it.
I said I was really looking forward to it, and he said "Great, I really hope you enjoy it."
Another thing I thought was REALLY cool was that he doesnt ever read reviews of their CDs or shows. Even if its just like someones blog or something. Of course he accepts the compliments, but he said he doesnt like to read peoples opinions. "Because once you start reading those things, you start to appeal to people. and thats when you stop doing your own thing. We want to do what we want to do, and not have to worry about appeasing people."
After talking for a little bit longer I said "Okay well thanks again for an awesome show, and im so glad I could see you guys play again."
He said "Hey, whats your name?"
SO I TOLD HIM and we shook hands
and he said "Im Tomas, nice to meet you"
I find that so cool. Hes so down to earth. All of them are
