I like REAL drums...

...while electronics are easier to move, they just lack in timbre.

None that I've ever played. Particularly in the cymbal area.

SORRY MAN.

I only like bongos.

And I don't mean large, forest-dwelling antelopes (Boocercus eurycerus) of central Africa, having reddish-brown coats with white stripes and spirally twisted horns.

I submit that in this case that may have something to do with the highpass filter. :p

I think sequenced drums can sound just as good as real drums if you put a lot of work into them.

Quoted for truth. It's pretty hard, though, to make sequenced drums sound "human."

What I don't understand is why you would want to make electronic drums sound like acoustic ones in the first place. I mean, if I remember correctly, the initial reason why electronic drums were made was to get sounds from them that acoustic drums couldn't make. Just get an acoustic set if you want it to sound that way. It'll be a lot cheaper than getting a good enough electronic set to make realistic drum sounds.

This is NS Kit sequenced, Trige. :p

Yeah, I'm just talking about electronic kits in general. Although, what you have here is pretty good. The one way that I could tell that it wasn't an acoustic kit is the way the hi-hats were being played.

Indeed. Since, every single sound you hear on an Amon Tobin record originates from a sampler :) . Even the squelchy strange organic instruments. He just breaks it apart, filters it beyond recognition, and adds his trademark ominously cavernous reverb.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Whooo. I like drumming sounds. I am actually going to learn to play drums. Drumming is a good way to take out frustration on a bad day. Honestly drums are the best instruments and drummers are the most insane musicians. Look at the drummer from Berzerker who has the world record for the fastest drumming, he must be 'Berzerk' to be able to do that. Good, Good, and Good. Drumming is the sound of the gods.

(maybe not, but thats what I think)

But... it is an acoustic kit. Just badly programmed. :p

Electric drums give your sound guy complete control over mixing your drums. No acoustic sounds will be floating around in the mix out of control, thus allowing for better mixing (depending on your sound guy ;) ), plus electric kits are far easier to pack up and move, because they're usually more lightweight.

Hart Dynamics has the best electric kits (at least of all the ones I've heard). Check out their video demos here. The best demos are at the bottom of the page (the 5 under "Artist Demos.")

If I ever get an electric kit, it's going to be one of theirs (probably the Gigapro). Definitely something with E-Cymbal II. IIRC, they actually have the ability to be choked. Plus you can use better drum modules with it for even better sound.
