It's a branchoff of reggae, to an extent, that's taken a life of it's own. I know you could find some samples of Cousin Oliver at the old mp3.com, not sure now. (Just checked, you can't). They're both really great bands, and I'd sample some other ska (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, Catch 22, to name some popular bands) to see if you like the genre. If so I HIGHLY reccommend these two CDs.

NO.

And yeah, precursor of reggae. My bad, don't know why I said branch off. But it sounded NOTHING like it does today up until the 70s or 80s.

Do NOT listen to anyone who says it's punk with horns. Listen for yourself to some good bands, and then judge it for what it is.

It isn't punk with any old horns. It's punk with TRUMPETS. (sometimes saxamaphoners!)
