How do you convert CDs into MP3's

Yeah, how do you do that...

I have a sinking feeling this is a flameworthy topic, and I have no idea why.

I like Winamp (I still have v2.80, but it should work with newer releases) with Chun-Yu's MP3 writer plugin v3.0 over anything else I've ever tried to rip my CD's into MP3's.

When you get to Google, try CDex, I am using that and can recommend it. It is ummm open source or something, free to d/l and use.

EDIT: Or just try http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

EAC is generally considered to be the best ripper if you care more about accuracy than speed

however it can be a real nightmare to setup for someone who hasn't had any experience with ripping software

CDex is almost as good as EAC and much easier to setup (also it has LAME encoding built in... i suggest using the --alt-preset standard option under the quality dropbox)

I used Itunes cause it does it quickly and I can a whole CD out to my IPOD in about 10 minutes or so.

I use EAC in fast mode.
2005-07-28, 12:54 PM #11
that kinda makes using EAC pointless if you aren't using secure mode

Why? It's still a good ripper. On fast mode I still don't get any audio errors and on scratched CDs I can switch to secure mode.
