Looking for a good bass amp system
2005-08-17, 10:15 AM #1
So at one of our shows, I got the privelage of using one of the other bands' bass player's amp that was nearly as tall as I am. It was so freaking awesome. Too bad I don't remember much about it. Except that it kicked my Peavey amp's butt clean off.

So what I'm (eventually) wanting to get is something similar to it. I really liked having a head that let me split the highs to one cab and the lows to another. It made my bass so clear. It had thundering lows when I played normal and excellent highs when I slapped & popped.

So I'm looking for all three of those things: Head, high cab, and low cab. But I don't know what's best for each. And it'd be nice if the head was tube, naturally. :o

[...and compression. My pops are insanely loud.]

In a Primus tribute band I was in, our bassist used an Ampeg 200w amp, built in head, and it worked for all of our small gigs.
