Perfect Albums
2005-08-31, 10:04 AM #1
Let's make a quick definition so that there's no confusion here. In this thread a perfect album will mean an album where every track is awesome (irrespective of the play order and overall composition as these can make an album with average tracks become a lot better). Feel free to include EPs if they contain enough tracks to justify it. Greatest Hits albums don't count. Oh yeah, don't bother insulting anybody else's choices, even if they pick OK Computer.

Here's mine:
Dire Straits - Money For Nothing
DragonForce - Valley of the Damned
DragonForce - Sonic Firestorm
Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell
Sonata Arctica - Ecliptica
Sonata Arctica - Silence
Sonata Arctica - Winterheart's Guild
Sonata Arctica - Reckoning Night
Sonata Arctica - Successor
Sonata Arctica - Takatalvi
Stratovarius - Visions
Stratovarius - Elements Pt.1

you've never heard an album where you thought every song was awesome?

Mobys "Play" was perfect.

Pretty much all APocaltyptica albums are perfect

And Nightwish sometimes get lucky.

Sonata Arctica have about 2 or 3 good songs out of 10 i;d say :em321:

Failure - Fantastic Planet

Fantastic Planet is probably my all time favorite album. There's 17 songs on it, and ALL of them are great. I'd be hard pressed to pick my least favorite.

[Future posted.]
2005-08-31, 9:26 PM #25
Pink Floyd - Darkside Of the Moon
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd - The Wall

In that order.

As well as,
The Cure - Disintegration
Hands down the most beautifuly constructed album on this planet. Like most Cure albums, incredibly diverse but manages to flow as one. There isn't a bad song on the album.
The Cure - Seventeen Seconds, Faith, Pornography

Each of those three albums are freaking awesome, in their own right and blend almost seamlessly together while being rather diverse at the same time.

Kill Hannah - Here Are The Young Moderns
Poetic, beautiful, tragic *** kickage from start to finish.

Kill Hannah - American Jetset
Pure pop pleasure untill orgasm, plus the same lyrical dark undertones that make Kill Hannah who they are. I can't think of another ablum that sounds so sweet, and tastes so sour. The best description I've ever heard for AJS was "Sonic terrorism."
2005-08-31, 10:43 PM #26
Weezer - Pinkerton
Weezer - Blue Album (self-titled)
Pixies - Doolittle
At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command
The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I

Honorable mention to the three Foo Fighters albums I've heard (There is Nothing Left to Lose, One by One, In Your Honor). Every one's a mere song or two away from making the list.
