i honestly didn't mean to skip class. i had my coffee made and everything ready to go. then i decided to restring my guitar and just happened to write what i think is the best song i've ever written. i cannot wait to let the band hear it......... lyrics (unfinished but this is what i have so far... you know it's good when i actually write music AND words together)[the only other song i've done that for was Amaranthine]:
When I open my eyes I want to be sure to find you
Looking so pure, so perfect, divine - you
never gave me a reason to believe that it's something sacred.
Up with the sun with this glare, such a hazard.
You stole my heart and thought it didn't matter,
but I want to believe still that it's something sacred.
I know sometimes I act like I'm scenery,
but really it's just that I've been struck dumb by just the sight of you.
The dissonant drone of the commonplace surrounds you,
but with just one glance it's laid out beside you,
and out of the soot you've erected something so beautiful.
The taste in my mouth is starting to sour,
and you'll be long gone while I'm counting the hours
until I can see you again, looking so beautiful.
I know I can't help myself now,
but really I'm still just wondering how I let you slip so far from me...
It's not finished, and I know you really cant get too much out of lyrics, but I swear the music is awesome for it as well and I really want to jump into the studio this month to record our newer songs (I have 3 that I MUST record ASAP)...
Like I said, it isnt finished... it needs a really cool ending and I'm thinking about doing a slow intro before getting into the jazzy groove that this song is in... reminds me a little bit of Masquerade meets one of our newer songs.
But do you guys have any critiques/suggestions for the prose?
