Tremolo problem: Update
2005-09-18, 4:54 AM #1
About a week ago, I posted my problem about the rising tremolo on my Ibanez JS guitar.

Well, I decided to take it down to get it professionally set, but it was a friday, and the the tech wasn't in. So I left it overnight, and called him the next day. He said he could block the tremolo, restring it and tune it up properly, all for $90.

WHAT ?!?! says me. No way, and I went back to Calgary and picked it up. And as soon as I got home, I opened up the back of my Ibanez, and though, hey, maybe I could block it myself. So I stuck a piece of wood in there, and VOILA , it was done. At no cost.

Nifty, eh?

So, what other kids of problems you guys have with your guitars, and maybe post a setup of your rig here...

I don't like the block method, I prefer having it setup properly. There's place near my uni that will do a complete setup, ie adjust intonation, trem springs, truss rod, new strings, tune it up, clean it so it's like new. But they charge £90, i've never used their service but it's basically the same treatment they give when selling guitars.

I'd say if things are completely messed up and you're clueless it might be worth the money.

Since you just bought it, you should bring it back to the store you bought it at to have it set up. Say it wasn't set up properly when you got it, and they should do it for free if it's not a cheap guitar.

Unfortunately, I bought it second hand, but it's still a new line of guitar from Ibanez. Besides, the actual tremolo I hardly ever us at all....
