HYPNOTIZE - 15 second clip and information.

System of a Down recorded the music video to Hypnotize on the 28th, so a bunch of lucky fans not only got to be included in the video, but they also got to hear a full concert! They played Hypnotize two times during the concert because of the video so there are a bunch of live recordings floating around...but they also released an official 15 second clip online. It isn't much, but here it is.

"I'm just sitting in my car, and waiting for my girl..."

It sounds very catchy to me, even though it's very very short. So far, I'm looking forward to this album more than Mezmerize. So far I've heard Holy Mountain and Kill Rock and Roll from the new album (Live at the concert I went to). Hypnotize will be made so that is physically connects to Mezmerize and the artwork will flow together. Also they are going to put out another version of the album which also has a DVD.

Some magazines got the privilage of listening to Hypnotize already, here is one of the reviews.

Quote:
1. ATTACK – The perfect album opener. Fast and frantic in the ‘Prison Song’ mould, Serj’s barked refrain of ‘We shall attack!’ will spark mosh-pit carnage when unleashed live.

2. DREAMING – Boasting some impressive harmonising between Serj and Daron, this is a slow-burning protest song with strikingly bleak lines like, ‘We will take the body parts and put them on the wall’.

3. KILL ROCK’N’ROLL – Weird tempo changes and a hysterical refrain of ‘I felt like the biggest *******!’ make this a great example of what Daron likes to call System’s “quacky” songs (also see bounce and BYOB)

4. HYPNOTIZE – A dark, moody anti-war anthem, boasting slogans like ‘Propaganda leaves us blinded’

5. STEALING SOCIETY – A wickedly snaking riff introduces a full pelt lunatic tale of ‘crack pipes, needles, PCP and fast cars.’ ****ing awesome

6. TENTATIVE - Systems most desolate song ever, as Serj writes from the point of view of a bombing victim: ‘DO you hear us?/We are rotting/ No-ones gonna save us’. An epic lament.

7. HOLY MOUNTAINS – Unveiled on Systems last UK tour, this is a dark, ‘Aerials’- style track. Probably the least immediate thing on the album.

8. U-FIG – A classic, portentous intro riff recalls ‘Chop Suey!’
Before the whole thing explodes into a dizzying, uptempo indictment of ‘pathetic flag-waving ignorant geeks’.

9. VINCITY OF OBSCENITY – this albums ‘Cigaro’. It starts off like a cartoon soundtrack before the launching into an insane tounge-twister chourus (‘Banana terracotta terracotta pie!’) and a bridge that sounds like George Michael at his poppiest. No, honestly. Inspired lunacy.

10. SHE’S LIKE HEROIN – A deceptively light-hearted refrain of ‘selling *** for heroin’ frames this otherwise downbeat exploration of cross-dressing and prostitution

11. LONELY DAY - Featuring a delicate acoustic intro and a Led Zep style lead guitar break, this could almost be a Daron solo song. Fantastic stuff.

12. SOLDIER SIDE – Another startlingly bleak track about death and war. ‘God is wearing black, he’s never coming back’, moans Serj, bringing the album to a sombre and haunting conclusion. This track interlocks this album with the first in the set as it completes ‘Soldier Side Intro’ which appears as the opening track on ‘Mezmerize’.

Hypnotize – the verdict:
Another work of genius. Darker and heavier than Mezmerize’, theres nothing here as poppy or radio friendly as ‘BYOB’ – this is a ‘classic’ System all the way: staccato riffs, epic breakdowns, and inspired, authority baiting choruses. Serj and co have done it again. Roll on November 22nd…

November 20th is my birthday, so this will be an awesome gift >.<
