besides the priceless personal possessions we lost from the van, everything that enables us to be a band was contained in that trailer. all of our horns, guitars, drums, amps, microphones, rack gear, mic stands, every last bit of merchandise and cds, every sticker, patch , button with our logo on them, our banner, EVERYTHING. in all, we were robbed of approximately 80 thousand dollars worth of gear, merch and personal possessions.

Thats really, really, really horrible. I hope they get their stuff back

Sad times... really. It seems nothing ever goes right for them on tour.
Anyway, heres to them and finding their stuff in tact.... and heres to life (reference omg)

I really do hate sub-human scumbags. To those guys, music is their life and some lowlife takes it away from them. I hope they catch those responsible and get their stuff back.
Rock is dead - but I believe in necrophilia.

Holy crap... this is unbelievable. I can't believe the people that did this. This can't be happening! I'm seeing them this Friday! What are the odds... Are they canceling all of their shows then?

right now we're reeling, yet trying to put the pieces back together. we've unfortunately had to cancel the next four shows (jacksonville, atlanta, norfolk and morgantown) as we head back home to cobble together some equipment for the last 3 shows of this tour (washington dc, our beloved homecoming show at the starland ballroom, and long island). we're deeply sorry for having to cancel the shows, but there's no way around it.

Just hope youre going to one of the last 3 shows.

That sucks. I hope they find the guys responsible and curb-stomp them.

I'm going to the Washington D.C. show, so I'll be seeing them the first time with all of their new/borrowed equipment. I showed all of my friends, and they can't believe this... all of this right before they're huge European tour? They're going to have to buy new EVERYTHING... press new shirts, CDs, new amps, new instruments... jeez. I feel for these guys so bad.

I just got off the phone with my friends who I'm going with, and we're going to pool together a lot of our spare money and donate it to them. I wonder how they're going to act like at the show. I really hope we can cheer them up. I don't just feel bad for them as a band, I feel bad for them as people... who would do such a thing to these nice guys? I'm gonna try to talk to them about it Friday, so I'll post again later.

This sort of thing happens all too often to touring bands. I've read stories about this happening to the Decemberists, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and Camper Van Beethoven (twice!).

Hopefully, they have the serial numbers on their equipment written down so that it will turn up if anyone attempts to pawn it.

What jerks.

It happened to U2 back in the day. Some **** jacked Bono's lyrics and the early masters for their October album.

10/6/05 UPDATE:
hello all.
first and foremost we have to express our infinite love, appreciation and gratitude to our fans, family and friends. through your messages and thoughts we know we are lucky beyond words, despite the recent difficulties. we've been bombarded by your kind words over the last few days and you're the reason we're keeping on.

we've been spending the last few days talking to police (or trying to talk to police...), tracking down serial numbers, and in general looking for ways to get the band back on track. we're going to be piecing together some equipment, and despite nearly cancelling the european tour, we've decided to forge ahead and deal with our towering debts due to the robbery afterwards.

initially we were against accepting donations, and were just encouraging fans to come to shows and buy merch at the last 3 dates, but we've gotten hundreds of emails from fans who can't make it out to the shows and want to help us out. for this reason our soundguy knowles has set up a paypal donation button that you can use to help us out, if that's your intention. with your donation, PLEASE include your full name and mailing address. if and when we rise to our feet again, we will make sure to send each and every one of you something special.
for those of you who wish to help out, but don't use paypal, you can snail mail whatever you like to cheer us up to:

every day we think of something else that was in the van or trailer that we hadn't thought of yet and words can't explain how much that sucks. at this point what stings the most is the lost photos and countless hours of tour video footage that was stolen and probably ditched somewhere. we had so many special projects lined up that have been taken away from us.

ok, back to the grind. we have much to do and progress is slow. see you at the shows and keep posted for more robbery fiasco related updates. thanks again guys

Man, these guys play the greatest shows ever. So much fun. At the show last night, they didn't really pity themselves and talk about the robbery that much... in fact, they joked about it a lot. The tip jar was overflowing with 20 and 50 bills. I think they're going to be okay... it looks like they enjoyed playing a lot and appreciated all of the support.

I always thought professional musicians could get sponsorships from various equipment companies pretty easily.... such as free equipment.
