Who likes Green Day?
2005-11-05, 9:49 PM #1
Who likes Green Day and listens to them everyday? Green Days about the only band I listen to.
2005-11-05, 10:00 PM #2
Eh, they play pretty well but I don't much like corporate counter-culture. I'd like them more if they didn't sing at all. :)
2005-11-05, 10:10 PM #3
I hate punk rock and I must say they all dress like little girls with the whole eye shadow and tight pants crap....but even though it isn't my bag, I can see why some might like them.
Think while it's still legal.
2005-11-05, 10:23 PM #4
They're OK, I still listen to stuff off Nimrod and Dookie. Warning and American Idiot I never even considered buying because I thought those albums were rubbish.
Rock is dead - but I believe in necrophilia.
2005-11-05, 11:04 PM #5
Heck. Who ever said I buy my music. Piracy rulez!!
2005-11-06, 7:28 AM #6
PLease dont speak about piracy here. (check the rules again)

Green Day is alright, but they shouldnt be the only band you listen to.

But people talk about drug use all the time...I thought it was just against the rules to talk specifically where to download things.

i like dookie, nimrod and insomniac, i dont like American Idiot and Warning, they're boring albums.

Green Day finds a good phrase or lyrics, and
REPEATE IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Let's write a Green Day song, shall we?

Hmm. Clouds aren't very emo, so what's the opposite of clouds?
RAINCLOUDS!
OK, perfect. It rains and it makes my eyeliner run and makes me look so much cooler. This is musical gold.
Gold isn't cool though, so what's cool? Charcoal. Charcoal rocks. It's black.

OK, now we've got the basic premise for a good lyric.

"The charcoal runs red with the blood of a crying nation's dream. But we're standing in the rain, so our tears are unseen."

Throw a couple guitar riffs in, dramatic silence here and there, and as many iconic punk-culture references as possible while repeating the above lines over and over again.

I win.

They have a couple of good/ok songs, but I really hate their image and they suck live.
2005-11-06, 2:07 PM #14
Dude, Green Day has an AWESOME image. Observe:

I liked their first albums, when they sung about things they knew about.

I like American Idiot and Nimrod, but dont like Warning or Dookie. Go figure.

Greenday has no guitar skill at all. When I listen to a band one of the first things I look for is guitar skill, so Greenday = trash to me.
2005-11-07, 1:08 AM #19
You could be the best guitar player in the world and write **** for songs.. so judging a band by the skill of a guitar player is wrong. Cause if you ask me Steph Carpenter (Deftones) isn't that great of a guitarist. But they write good music.

If you think the guitar riffs are lame.. well that's different.

Now, you know that Green Day and their peers aren't real punk rock right? It's not even like that real punk isn't around anymore. There are plenty of good punk bands, but they're not very mainstream.

As for Green Day, I have a feeling I'd like them if it weren't for their image and what they choose to sing about.

That doesent make sense...why do we have to not talk about it and pretend it doesent exist? we can talk about sex, murder, drugs and everything else, but not piracy. Not where to get it or anything like that, but just the subject of it?
2005-11-09, 5:20 AM #23
Firstly, Michael Angelo Batio is far more listenable than Nirvana, even if it is just pointlessly fast shredding.

Secondly, talking about piracy isn't against the rules, but promoting it as an acceptable activity is.

Thirdly, admin decisions don't have to make sense, deal with it.

Green Day has some really awesome songs and some not so awesome songs. I hate kids who only listen to Green Day and think they're rad.

I was just really pointing out, is that your face looks the same all the time. I really could have picked anything. LIKE YOUR GRANDMA.

There's a difference between discussing something ("I think piracy is going to have serious effects on the future of music") and actively admitting to doing it ("oh man I love downloading songs"). If someone was going around talking about how he killed people I don't think people would take it in stride.

Your end example SUCKS.

I can't tell you how many times I've gotten in trouble for talking about how awesome murder is. EVEN in the most vague sense.

That's because we all know you're too wimpy to do it. Except maybe in stormtrooper armor. :o
2005-11-10, 8:54 PM #37
It all depends.

If I were 100% sure I could get away with killing someone, I'd do it.

However, thanks to you people and your wonderful idiot protecting laws, CSI jerks, and what have you.. I never will be able to murder someone. :(
2005-11-11, 10:12 AM #38
:(
2005-11-11, 1:52 PM #39
You obviously have to murder the CSI jerks first. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/icons/icon11.gif]
2005-11-11, 4:05 PM #40
Hmm. This is an interesting concept.

But there would be so much murderin to do!

I'd have to do them all in at the same time!
