How much would you pay for concert tickets?
2005-11-19, 10:48 AM #1
I just saw U2 last night and I had upper-tier level tickets. It was probably the best 2 hours of my entire life.

I wanted to buy floor tickets last night for the show tonight for $700/2 tix but my friend wouldnt let me cause she said I was drunk.

Now those tickets are $1,000/1 ticket. I want to kill her.

Soooo... while I sit here thinking about whether or not I want to pay that much for tickets, or maybe just go down to the stadium with a wad of bills... how much is the max you would pay to see your favorite band?

I usually consider anything over 20 Euro horrible, but price up to 60 Euro (of course depending on the concert) is tolerable. Over that, it's insulting price for a few hour concert.

My favorite band is Tool, and I think I'd pay $100 to see them, maybe $150.

My other favorite band, Failure, I would play a lot more, but it will never happen because they broke up.

It costs £9 to see DragonForce, probably about the same to see Sonata Arctica. They are my two favourite bands, i'd be willing to pay a lot more though.

Ya, the tickets were initially $50, but of course they sold out in minutes and all the ticket scalpers got all the seats you wanted anyways.

The most ive paid is around $50 I almost paid over 100 for lollapalooza, but that got cancelled (and i was angry)

The most ive paid recently is $12...

Although, if my plans go correctly, a streetlight show in december could run me about $30-40

$40 + 7 hours driving + hotel room was the most that I paid for a concert. Of course...it was more interesting than just a concert...

Well..... I don't know what is the most I've payed for tickets... but I went to a Bad Religion concert on the 11th, and paid 32$ (final price) and it was easily the best show of my entire life, and not to mention I got to meet Jay Bently and Greg Hetson after the show.

We were right up on the rail for when BR played, and right in front of Greg Hetson, the "main" guitar player. And we (we being 2 of my friends and I) high fived him, when he came up close.

After the show, we were waiting outside for a taxi, when my buddy Israel is like "hey, isn't that the guitar player from Bad Religion".... I said "I don't know, lets follow him".

It might not have been the smartest thing to do, because it wasn't in to good of a neighborhood, but we followed him around the back of the building and through some alley. When we came to wear the busses were parked, he took his hood off, and yep it was him.

So we ran over and shook his hand, and just talked about stuff for like 5 minutes. It was pretty cool to have intelegent convorsation with one of your childhood heroes.

That was until a group of "fans" saw him , and ran over and started pawing him, and asking for his autograph.

Jay Bently came out of the bus, and was like "Greg we have to go man". Then we said hi to jay, and he was like "it's pretty cool that you guys don't fawn over us and tell us how "great" we are, we need more people who just apprecieate the music"

So yeah, it was a pretty out of this world expierience.

If I could afford it, I would pay anything and take any seat I could.

I'd pay $700 to see my favourite bands without thinking twice about it.

The bands I like hardly ever tour Australia, and when they do it might be their only trip down here, ever. $700 is a small price to pay for what could very well be, as Schming said, a lifetime highlight.

Speaking of which, I heard U2 has their first shows in Australia in 8 years coming up.
