It's fake. Look at the other guitarist and the drummer..

What about them?

fast but crappy
2005-11-26, 6:56 PM #5
Unfortunatly, speed does not impress me as much as it used too. Way way way too many guitarists trying to playing something as fast as they can, but with no style or feel. Too many trying to copy the likes of Vai, Yngwie, Petrucci, etc.

I mean - there's a ****load of guitarists who just sit in their room all day practicing scales so they can shred like a mofo.

I mean - goto any metal concert and at the end of lots of their songs they do the same thing they did in this video - shredding scales and different patterns to the main chord being played.

Not saying it's slow or anything - but there's many many other guitarists like him out there

Vai is crazy, too bad he's a dick.

a good shred can fit in a good song. a good song can have a crappy shred. a good shred can be in a crappy song. it's all about balance. sure, it rocks. but i'm sure in a band this guy could do a whole lot more if he's a musician, and not only a guitarist.

With a last name like "Wanasek", being fast about things is probably something that this person does not want to be associated with...especially if he's in the action of making more Wanaseks.

The video is not sped up at all. What are you talking about?

It's not sped up. In fact, if you learn to play that sweep properly you would almost be as fast.

I saw this several months ago and have been learning it on and off.

Very true. I've noticed how two people can play the exact same solo, but the one with more emotion somehow sounds better. I can't really explain how that works, but oh well.

You don't need to explain it, it's common sense. It's no secret that emotion is important, even to guitarists who try to reach crazy speeds. Listen to Petrucci, Laiho, Vai, anyone who's considered very fast, they mix both speed and emotion to produce some truly astounding solos.

It may not be sped up, but it sure looks like it, watch his mouth movements when he's playing, they're like going double time.

I cant even hear the guitar so I dont really care

Yeah, the riffer and the drummer are both moving in normal time, along with the soloist. You can hear the dude talking and his mouth movements sync up with the audio.

If you look when he crashes the cymbals, they move way too fast back in place to be normal.
2005-11-28, 5:26 PM #19
Also, the other guitarist's hair rebounds really quickly when he moves his head.

2005-11-29, 2:48 PM #21
Haha hes so fast he can change guitars while playing the same song without missing a beat!

speed lives isn't that fast, i know several people who've learned to play it whilst mastering the over/underhand pivot trick

Considering it's improvisation, it's not that fast. AND it sucks.

If that were something that required perfect playing--and, more importantly, it sounded good--I would be impressed.

Yea, I used to think it was cool until I learned it and it wasn't hard.

And its boring.
