Sweet christ why didn't anyone tell me about these guys. Imagine Explosions in the Sky's tragic beauty meets the haunting harmonies of Godspeed You Black Emperor. I think I'm in love.

Somebody reccommend me some albums.

You never heard Mogwai before? They're pretty popular. As for me, I don't really like them all that much. I never got why they were so hyped... I'd take GYBE and EITS over them any day. They're not awful, but the only song I actually like by them is Ex-Cowboy... that's a good song.

I agree with Whelly. I read about them in CL a couple years back and checked out a few songs. But as a whole, I believe they are overhyped.

2 rights make 1 wrong. Get on AIM more often and you'd be able to...er...'sample'

For the record, I have heard OF them, but never actually heard their stuff.

Samples, eh? I will be getting on shortly. ;)

Did I tell you I listen to Menos El Oso everyday? I mean, literally, everyday to school. I love that CD so much... the best gift I've ever received. *sniff*

One of my all time favourite bands. I mentioned them several times in the 'best songs' and 'perfect albums' topics.

If you like Mogwai and Explosions, check out Godspeed you! Black Emperor too. [edit: oops, sorry]

Mogwai has several great albums, their live gigs are some of the most intense and awesome shows I have ever seen. They're from Glasgow. I've seen them 4 times now. Brilliant guys, and they're nice too. There are some pics on their website that I took when they played in Amsterdam.

My favourite Mogwai songs:

Helicon 1
Helicon 2
Tracy
May Nothing but Happiness Come Through Your Door (Check this one out!!!)
Kappa
Chocky
Stanley Kubrick
2 Rights make 1 Wrong
You don't Know Jesus
Yes! I am a Long Way From Home
Hunted By a Freak
Kids Will be Skeletons

Ok, albums:

THE classic:

- Ten Rapid (Collected Recordings'96-'97)
- Young Team
- Come on Die Young

Those are the first 3 albums, which are the best in my opinion.

- Rock Action
- Happy songs for happy people

are the last two albums, also good albums

Then there's also an EP/singles compilation which has very good material, called 'EP+6'

And there's a 2 cd remix album called 'Kicking a dead Pig - Mogwai remixes' which also has some interesting takes on Mogwai material.

And then there's all the BBC sessions (live radio recordings) on 'Government Commissions'.

Enjoy! ;)

Oh, if I can interest you, I also have a live gig in Amsterdam that was recorded by VPRO radio in the Netherlands.
