I only listened to Violent Plan- its pretty good. My only gripe is the guitar solo at the end. Sounds like you threw the key signature out the window and just started shredding all over the neck- which is cool if thats what you're going for. I just think it might sound better with some structure as to what notes to play and what notes not to play.

yeah thx. I had no idea what to play overe there so i improvised :P i updated the guitar tone a litle bit and i will post is tomorow on sound click. I'll let you know about that. :)

Sounds like everything i've heard before. The song itself could have potential, sounds like some old school thrash metal but it still lacks something

a few tips:

there's a riff with open power chords: (B5 A5 and G5 i think) followed by a chuggy part, do you only chug the low E? why don't you chug the whole E5 power chord? it'll alot more meat and make the guitar part sound less flimsy.

The break at 3 mins. completely threw me off the hook. sounds like another song, doesn't belong there imho, or needs a better transition.

Work on being tighter on your transitions, heard a couple of places where you start a bit crooked or on a flimsy note, now that's fine for demos, but you should keep practicing to make these sound alot tighter and clean.

just a tip, single notes left ringing sound like a bored person always talking in the same tone with no emotion. wham those notes a little! vibratos, slide-in/out. hammer into, artificial harmonics, bends, wheter it's in a riff or in a solo, it makes the whole thing much more interesting to hear since it actually lives!

Don't be afraid to vary your riffs a little, say, for example, the same power chord riff i mentionned at the beginning, you could vary it the second time by playing it this way:

(the low e rythm goes 16th16th-8-8-8-16th16th8-16th16th8-)

the triplets add a rythmic twist and make it sound less boring that straight chugged 8th notes, and you don't need to palm the whole chord to make it sound mean and meaty.

woah! now that is what call a reply!! I think you could be righgt about that riff. I'll fink of a way to make seem les boring. About the 3 min thing it will work better with vocals. :)

the trick to songwriting really is to stop only when you feel you need to stop. finish the basics of a song, then listen to it. time and time again, and be critical of yourself. if you're ruthless about your playing and your tone, you'll get better. keep reworking tiny things you feel need reworking. a song is never done until it's signed and recorded by a label imho. 'till then, you're free to change it whenever you feel like, and make it overall better!

as far as tone goes, turn down your gain, turn up your mids. less gain makes it harder to play if you aren't used to it, but everything sounds better and alot less saturated, and it makes you into a better player simply because you can play everything clean without using turbo overdrive.

And the guitar is a midrange instrument, so why cut its main frequency? Again, turn up your mids.

tone is 50% amp and 50% You. if you have a kickass rig but still have schoolboy fingers, it'll show.
