What is your favourite instrument? [And what do u own?]
2005-12-30, 10:17 PM #1
My favourite instrument of all HAS to be the Violin.

The sound and the feel, and its use in so many different music genres, most notably darkwave.

Electric Violin is also a possibilty.

My other favourite instruments are the Guitar/electric Guitar, Piano and the Cello.

As for what I own, I have a good quality yamaha keyboard and a £300 electric-acoustic Tanglewood Guitar.

Post your favourite instruments, and what you own.

I always have difficulty picking favourites of anything. If I listed all the instruments I'm fond of, it would be a long list...

Here's a picture of my instruments. There is also a zither somewhere that needs to be restrung.

an instrument that can make loads of different sounds, stuff like classical instruments arent very flexible on their own compared to a synth or a guitar with sixty gazillion effects.

  • Mandolins
  • Banjos
  • Dulcimers
  • Guitars
  • Violens
  • Bagpipes

Not in any particular order. I don't play an instrument, but I've been planning to pick up something.

+1. It's so beautiful sounding, and it looks great when you play it as well.

I own and play a bass.

Guitar
Violin
Piano
Bass

It gets a little fuzzy after that...

and I have all those except bass. And I suck at playing my violin, right now. But I'm starting to get interested in it again, and might actually have an opportunity to play it more, so I might get better at it. Alternatively, I'll just buy a fretted Viper violin from Wood Violins.

When do you think you'll get your TTX-1?

I adore synthesizers the most, yet I feel sad I can't play with keys that well.

Basses and drums are also quite cool. And guitars after them. There was also some african instrument which had cool sound... or many.

Squiers are cheap but I'm stuck with one until I get a Schecter C-1.

Violin - Fun, but hard to play:(
Mandolin - Fun, but easy to play for the most part.
Guitar - Sorta less fun lately. Fun with other people though.

Piano.

Then acoustic guitar. ( > Electric guitar)

A song with piano + acoustic guitar = win.

Its mostly getting intonation correct, harder than a fretted/key instrument. For the most part, I read standard notation and play multiple part stuff with other people, so its a bit harder than playing alone. It -is- fun to play with others though.

Godin Exit 22. so sweet, so well built, so versatile. and has a very low profile look which rocks.

LTD Deluxe H-1000, hand made, beautiful. a killer guitar.

Can't really decide which of these two is my favorite. both are so different. maple 22 fret 24¾ fretboard and a thick mahogany body. and the other is another maple-mahogany compo but with rosewood fretboard and a set-neck. sweet.

stringed instrument obsession anyone?

i prefer valved brass instruments. i can play them all. trumpet, cornet, tuba, susaphone, baritone, french horn, flugelhorn, mellophone, picolo trumpet. i own three trumpet's. 2 classic holton's and a brand new yamaha xeno, as of the seventh.

piano, guitar, i can play. woodwind and orchestra instruments always gave me problems.
