Flamenco

so i've recently been sucked into the wonderful world of flamenco music, and i thought there's no way in hell i'm the only one appreciating this sound on massassi.

my friend lent me the classic "friday night in san francisco" with al dimeola, paco de lucia and john mc laughlin.

Paco de lucia has an amazing sense of melody and color. it's winter here and i still feel the gypsy warmth!

sadly, it seems it's really hard to find original songs, or maybe it's just me. the tone is still so attractive

I have that CD. It's pretty good. I don't really know much flamenco, but it sure is nice to talk about something other than rock music.

Not that there's anything wrong with rock music. But it's nice to talk about something other than rock music.

Heil jazz nazi.

Yeah, Flamenco is awesome... I don't know any artists or anything, but I love everything I've heard.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

Check out the song "La Nina de Puerta Oscura" it's a great track. Or the album "Entre Dos Aguas" by Paco de Lucia.

Ah yes, I absolutely love Friday Night in San Francisco. I currently have Mediterranean Sundance on my myspace page, in fact. :)

What would you say your favorite tracks off that album are?

Tracer is right, it's a refreshing change to discuss a different kind of music.

Tenshu plays flamenco pretty well if I'm not mistaken. And yes, John Mclaughlin and Paco are gods. You should check out Mahavishnu Orchestra if you're a fan of Mclaughlin at least.

The whole flamenco, uh, culture I guess, is amazing. The dancing, the spontaneous street corner music. Amazing. And my gypsy/jew genetics and sensabilities draw me to it.
