I just bought a Gibson SG 1. It's black with silver hardware. It's pretty. I needed a backup guitar before we went on the road and so I got this one to be my primary guitar and my strat is now on ***** duty, with a tele on double ***** duty.

Um... I'm also thinking about getting a danelectro or an epiphone dot. Any thoughts on those?

I'm afraid I can't comment on the Danelectro or the Dot, but the SG is indeed a very pretty piece of hardware.

I meself are going to shell out £250 odd on an Epi G-400 deluxe [I'm too poor for a proper Gibson] next weekend. My god it's a pretty guitar.
nope.

just bought a lapatrie etude classical guitar for my flamenco studies. it's so awesome. 200$ used from my boss, but it's seen plenty of playing so it's grown in tone compared to a brand new version.

also bought a paco de lucia double cd for 25$ to celebrate my purchase and give me some inspiration

i forgot, i also bought a tuning fork. damn classical guitars are so picky, might as well train my hear with the traditionnal tuning method.

Heard great things about the Epi Dot.

Not purchased yet, but I'm pimping out my guitar when I get my tax return. New pickups (probably a DiMarzio DSonic for the bridge, and a DiMarzio Air Norton for the neck), getting a coil tap set up, and MAYBE a Fishman Powerbridge transducer.

I went around Steve's Music today, itching for gear knowing that I'm getting $2800 in taxes back soon, but nothing caught my eye. I've already got too much gear for my own good. I wanted a Strat just for that nice neck single-coil sound, but I hate Fender necks. I tried just about every Strat there. I figure a coil-tap on my Ibanez is the next best thing.

mmm remedy lane.

and i have a big doubt on schecter woods since my boss went to the MIAC in toronto last summer and a big *** custom schecter guitar made of one solid piece of maple (so said the dealer) fell on the floor on the strap knob on its butt, causing the guitar's wood to snap in half.

it wasn't a solid piece of maple. it was a 2-3 ply veneer. ON A 3000$ CUSTOM.

But the Antique Amber finish has so much more class
(although that finish does hold it's own!)

I love Paco. Glad you like his stuff. I know a couple of French artists that arent exactly Flamenco, but they have good stuff anyways. I'll peruse my iTunes and give you some names later. I'm dead tired. My band just got back from Nashville where we played a sold out show with Mute Math and then did waaaaay too many sake shots with The Working Title...

hey if you like paco you really should check out ottmar liebert (or maybe you know him). his stuff is more laid back, but the live show with his "luna negra" band is great. black stone buleria is what infected me with the flamenco disease.
