my school is having a talent show. pick something intense to blow the crowd away, vocals preferred but not required. if i dont like any of the covers you guys suggest, we will go with an original. (We can play any covers, difficulty isnt a problem)

We will be filming this so you guys can see it and since I arranged it we get to play 2 songs. Metal is preferred if you make suggestions (Sonata Arctica, Liquid Tension Experiment, ANGRA, Children of BODOM) Along those lines. Classic rock is welcomed too but since this is a school where rap presides as the "fad" I would like some good fashioned face melting to occur.

Jag Panzer - Tempest (this is seb approved, i know it!)

LOUD and fun

Between the Buried and me - Selkies the Endless Obsession

^favorite of mine just cause its so fricken aewsome with the sweet arrpeggios and stuff.
The vocals are loud and screaming at some points, but I think the song would work without vocals too.

Sonata Arctica - Abandoned, Please, Brainwashed, Exploited
Sonata Arctica - Victoria's Secret (but only if you can pull it all off, it needs all instruments to be perfect)
Twilightning - Gone to the Wall
At Vance - All For One, One For All
Edguy - Arrows Fly

Edguy - Wasted Time.

Get some people do doing backing vocals on chorus, you'll win the show!

Mr Bungle - None of them Knew they were Robots.

fast complex metal usually makes all non-metalheads just shrug instead of getting "blown away", play something thats absolute insanity, that song will knock peoples socks off.

'xactly. Most non-metalheads will just be like "........." and then continue about their day to day. The most you can hope for is someone to say something like "You can play the guitar really well!"

Iron Maiden - Aces High

and Children of Bodom - Needled 24/7 were actually picks between the band, haha. I think we will do aces high for sure now.

I dont like that song very much, how do you think something like Crossroads or Cocaine with extended jam would work? Those are very easy for me to sing, as well. We are most likely going to do Angels and Demons by Angra. Its a very cool song and I am amazingly able to sing it.

another cool metal song is Evil Spell by primal fear. catchy song with a maiden vibe.

maybe go for a classic song that you can expand on, like "la grange"

I'm the one by "Van Halen" has also quite a bit of nicely accessive stuff. and kickass leads. boogie in A minor. just add some crazier stuff and you'll be set.

boogie in A is the ultimate answer to your "whoa" needs.
