Muse's new album isn't out yet, but you can now hear it for free on http://www.myspace.com/muse

For some strange reason you can't choose which song to play, you can only listen to the whole album from beginning to end, and if you by mistake press stop or close the window, you have to start over again...

I personally love it, it's very Muse but also different... they seem to have calmed down abit since Absolution, which is good cause I thought that album was a tad over the top. There's also more electronic stuff here and some of the songs have abit of an 80's sound, which is cool when mixed with Muse's distinct style.

My favourite song so far is "Starlight" (second track), really beautiful!!

So uh.. post what you think of the album.

I've always loved Muse. Absolution was basically a perfect album in every way.

It's nice to hear some new stuff from them! So far Knights of Cydonia and Starlight are my favs, although the trumpet stuff in Knights of Cydonia is rather cheesy....but different, which is good. :)

I have heard a few songs from it, and it is pretty impressive. I might pick it up.

Don't get me wrong, I love Absolution, I just felt that some of the songs were just abit too dramatic and bombastic, even for Muse... the first few times I heard the album it was hard for me to take it seriously (END OF THE WORLD WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE AHHH :D )

I still think it's an amazing album though.

Hehe, I do get your point here. They're really over-melancholy doomsday songs, almost in a childish way. But I guess that's what makes it stand out. They're extremely enjoyable to listen to, even if a bit over the top. :v:

I'm probably gonna see them live in september, can't wait!! :)

I've seen recorded concerts of theirs and it looks absolutely amazing!! Well except for the parts where they go crazy and break guitars and drums and stuff... that's just annoying... if you don't need that expensive equipment, just give it to me! :P

Time Is Running Out really and truly ruined Absolution for me. Every other song is damn good.

I don't see where to hear the whole album, but the 4 it gives me are cool.

I've heard them live twice in St. Louis. They put on an amazing show. First show opened with Butterflies and Hurricanes, second show with Apocalypse Now. Both great starts to each show. Matt sounds just as good live as he does on the albums. Definately worth seeing them.

It's always been a toss up between Showbiz and Absolution for me. I guess it matters on mood.

Yeah, I would love to see Muse live. I have seen some videos and it looks like a hell of a time.

Wow.

Tingles.

Starlight, Map of the Problematique, Invincible, Exo Politics, City of Delusion, Knights of Cydonia... Hell I love the whole album. Every song is different. This is the album Muse were threatening to make. It's weird, wild, zany, beautiful, engrossing, catchy, riff-tastic, political, personal, thrashy, tender, and it rocks.

Some people are going to hate this album, I think Blackholes and Revelations is the best album since... Well I dont know.

I think I want to have its babies.

I'm not sure I like it, but I think I really do. It reminds me of Queen sometimes, so that helps.

Picked it up last week. It's amazing. I've listened to each song at lwast 20 times now, and I love every one. The musicality of it is amazing. Also, if you got the retail (as I did), make sure to find Glorious somewhere. It's an exclusive to the U.S. iTunes album download, which really sucks, but there are free, legal streaming versions of it on the net. It's a great song, one of the better on the album.

I've just started to really listen to the lyrics, and not just the musicality, and I'm a little surprised by just how political the whole album is. A lot of the songs seem to be complaints against Bush (or I guess Blair, though I suppose it works for either) and about how the leader has cast a hex on the country etc.

Starlight caught my attention pretty quickly as a good song. Assassin is reminiscent of the style on Absolution. Map of the Problematique is simply great. I love City of Delusion. I liked Knights of Cydonia when I heard it on their MySpace, and it remains as one of my favorites. Supermassive Black Hole I wasn't crazy about at first, but it's grown on me quite a bit. The other songs are all good, but the ones I've mentioned I consider the best. Did I already mention that Glorious is a freaking awesome song? Well, I'll say it again. Glorious is ****ing awesome.

The more I listen to it the more I love it. Take a Bow is freaking awesome!
2006-07-17, 2:19 AM #22
Take a Bow is apparently targetted at the owners of big business more than politiclal leaders, which makes sense if you listen to the lyrics. Assassin (or the Knight Rider theme remix as my friend calls it, and he has a point too) is the most politically charged song on the album - 'The time has come for you to shoot your leaders down, join forces underground'. Then of course there's Soldier's Poem, City of Delusion, and Exo-Politics which all have something to say about our society.

I love every song on the album, but the current favourite is Invincible (old-school Muse, and belting out the last chorus is damn fun) closely followed by Starlight and Map of the Problematique.

Must find Glorious...

There's a few alright songs, but most of them are let down by the vocals. The the past i've thought that vocals are one of Muse's strong points, but on this album they just get in the way of the nice instruments.

The vocals in Muse songs have always been a bit of a novelty, but they've since been copied by numerous other bands (Keane) and I just don't think that the style is strong enough to be so overused.

I think the problem is that they sound muffled and clipped which doesn't fit with the instruments which have power and clarity.
