Deftones - Change (House of Flies)

I love looking at songs and finding meanings in them. In this case, I read someone elses description and I agree with it 100%

**Sidenote this song is incredibly sensual. def. HOT

..........................................................

Firstly, I think this is an amazing song. It was one of my favorites for a little while. I'm not sure what it really means, but this is what it means to me:

"I watched you change
Into a fly
I looked away you were on fire"

I think this part is saying that he knew this girl for a while and as she grew up she started to change into a different person. He tried to ignore the fact that he liked her better after whatever metamorphis she went through.

"And I watched a change in you
It’s like you never had
Wings now you feel, so alive"

He had been watching her and observing the changes in her. He's saying that the way she acts fools everyone, but himself. That it seems like she was always the way she is now. She makes it seem like she never had any dreams or expectations of herself, but she was completely different before had changed. Now that she's rebeled she feels alive and free of everything that used to control her.

"I took you home
Set you on the glass
I pulled off your wings
Then I laughed"

He takes her home. When he says "Set you on the glass", it means he justs revels at how fragile and unstable she is. He takes advantage of how vunerable she is and he strips her of the only dreams ("wings") she has left. But the worst part is, even in the moments after he has taken everything away from her, and he is staring at her hollow, empty body, he is still enjoying himself.

"I look at the cross
Then I look away
Give you the gun to blow
Me away"

Looking at the cross symbolizes his regret for what he has done. He eventually feels guilt for taking everything away from her. So he does the only thing that will pay for what he did, he gives her the power to empty him like he did her.

I saw Seether in concert once; they covered this exact song, and it was fantastic. Easily as good as the Deftones' original rendition.
the idiot is the person who follows the idiot and your not following me your insulting me your following the path of a idiot so that makes you the idiot - LC Tusken

Prodigy put on a hell of a show, but probably not my favourite - would say arch enemy and in flames were the best i saw, probably also metallica. It was the most packed crowd i've been in though. That weekend was the hottest weekend we'd had in ages as well, combined with that many people in a very small tent - it was pretty manic :)
