Hey Flex, stop being dead to the community. Where can we hear your new stuff?
What I was trying to get to in my previous post is that I don't keep most of the stuff I do nowadays. Back in the day I was just getting into production, and it was nice to have feedback from the community, but to this day when I listen to the stuff I did back then, I cringe. It's served it's purpose as a learning tool, and I've since moved on. I don't know if you remember, but near the end, when I was posting up mp3s in here, I could rarely get any comments, and when I did, they were never the criticism that I needed. Now I seek advice from proffessional producers who can really help me with the fine technical details that the average listener won't even pick up on, so I don't really bother sharing the stuff I do anymore, and that means there isn't much use in keeping hordes of high bitrate mp3s that only hog up space on my tiny hard drive.
However, (and don't you all get your hopes up :p) I might be getting back into editing once UT2k7 comes out - and that might give me an excuse to finish tracks again (and an excuse to make more dark tempests) . :p
Flex, if you're still reading this thread, do you still use Fruity Loops? I just hooked my friend up with a...legitimate...copy, and was curious if there was anything better he could be using. He's looking for the best tools available to him.
The sequencer itself won't make that much of a difference, it's how you use it that counts. The later versions of FL are used by a ton of proffessional producers (infected mushroom for instance) and pro studios. It also comes with some top notch synths (sytrus & 3osc), and handles plug ins better than most other sequencers (in my experience). Before starting to assemble a giant collection of tools that you'll never end up using (like alot of noobs do), it's better to just get into it right away, and as you devellop your skills with the program, you'll have a better idea of exactly what tools you'll need.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.
