I tried doing some compression and filtering on them and I think it helped some--but you really need to turn the drums up and turn the synths down if necessary. The drums are getting drowned out when they should be maxing or almost maxing the volume.

i appreciate the advice, but i dont notice improvement when i layer that over the synths. the bassdrum clicking really doesnt sound too good, in particular.

i like the levels on the drums as they are. perhaps the hats should be a bit more prominent (they havent even got any filters), but the kick and snare are where i want em in terms of filters.

i did turn the synths down a little though, which was some good advice ;)

a trancy saw might not be the best choice for a bassline, but its sure got a hearty atmosphere doesnt it haha. actually, considering it is the 'bassline' maybe i should give it some actual bass :o

I think one issue might be that you're using really dry, acoustic sounding drums and a very thick synthy...synth. They kick and snare just aren't fat enough to sound right or to compete with the riff, i think.

very well could be. ive heard your stuff and respect your opinion. i never claimed to be any good at making music, its just fun to play around with :)
