So. I finally found time to finish this paul gilbert cover I wanted to do.

recorded with only a fender princeton 112. Apex 126 drum mic. Amplitube for the bass. a synth drum. and my fingers. 2 guitar tracks max throughout.

everything is done on a godin exit 22 except for the solo with is on my esp H-1000.

comments?

Sounds pretty damn good to me, Seb. How long does it take you to work up a song like this? Not like how long does it take to record it or anything, but to actually sit down and learn it and practice it to a performance level?

Well. this one was a tough one. i started learning it in March i think. stopped practicing it for a while, but still practiced my usual routines and exercises., and the spent today working on the final touches and the solo. the first half of the song was done in march. and the other half (from the rotary speaker part) today. it's usually 2 weeks when i work on it everyday (which i don't) and from anywhere between 1 to 2 months. it really helps to actually not only practice the song but work on other things, since in the end, it turns you into a better player. and being a better player means you can play tougher things.

The worst parts in this song were the long picked shred part in the main guitar solo. and then the diminished kinda tapping lick at the break in the second half of the song. getting a good tone was pretty rough too, but that's something else.

I'm toying with the idea of sending it to paul since he's so cool with his fans.

the solo is lacking presence compared to the rest of the song, not sure if it's intentional but it seems out of place to me.

remarkable as always seb.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

Very professional and neat.

What's amplitude? And what are your drums?

thanks guys!

i took the midi bass. through the 4front bass plugin. and then shaped the soundfont with Amplitube, which is an amp simulator that works pretty well!

drums are drumkit from hell.

thanks to detty for the space again. :D

It was pretty cool! I've been trying to learn this one myself for a while, its great fun to play. I've not learnt all of it yet but the vast majority (at maybe 80% speed or so). Nicely done.
