It's an Ibanez SR1000 Prestige. Probably the closest thing I'll get to a "boutique-type" of bass. It's flippin' gorgeous (but the camera makes it look too yellowish) and I love everything about it. The body is mahogany with a walnut top, and the lighter-colored woods in the middle you see are maple and bubinga (bubinga sounds like an STD to me...). Also, the neck is thinner than my other basses, which is good since I don't have exceptionally big hands. And the fret markers are offset which is kinda cool in a different sort of way. Oh yeah, rosewood fretboard and all the hardware has a blackish finish they call "cosmo black".

The pickups are custom Bartolini pickups, and the bridge is a monorail bridge. It has an onboard EQ, which lets me boost/cut highs, mids, and lows, as well as change the frequency of the mids.

I didn't notice it right away, but the body of the bass is contoured as well.

Oh yeah, it sounds FLIPPIN' SWEET!

Here's the best part, I got this $1200 bass for only $725, which included the hardcase, straplocks, 2 sets of strings, and shipping.

Score.

Any of the uber-expensive handcrafted basses like Alembic, Fodera, etc.

hm. yeah. bubinga is a cool body. adds that nice low end without too much weight

good thing it's bartolini, ibanez tends to suck for their stock hardware/electronics.

good deal though.

Heh, that made me think of this song:

Bassically yours
Performed by Will Lee, Victor Wooten, and Steve Bailey
Sung by Will Lee

Well, Good morning my love
It's the start of brand new day
Do you think before we get out of bed
We can have a little play?

Still thinkin' about last night
When I held you close to me (remember?)
I had you wrapped around my neck
For all the World to see

But all of the sudden this fool cut in
The minute I turn my back (what's new)
Tried to slap you a little too hard
But there's no need for that

Now don't get me wrong
I don't want to come off selfish
But everyone knows it's true
The sweetest sound you ever make
Is when I have my hands on you

[Prechorus]
The more time we spend alone
The more I feel at home
You are the key to my soul

I love your bottom line
You make me feel so fine
Together we're in control

[chorus]
You know I'm bassically yours (you know I'm bassically yours)
You know I'm bassically yours (you know I'm bassically yours)
You know I'm bassically yours (you know I'm bassically yours)
You know I'm bassically yours (you know I'm bassically yours)

When we first got together
People said it was just a fling
Some years have passed, don't fret my love
I can still snap your g-string (can I say that?)

In and out, thumb, and three finger technique
Are things that I know you love
I'll slap it, tap it, two-hand attack it
Or all of the above

[prechorus]

[chorus]
"Harriet, sweet Harriet - hard-hearted harbinger of haggis."
